Friday April 3
10:00 AM *SCALAWAGS & RENEGADES - The Ohio Frontier was full of heroes and shady characters. Meet at the Shelter House at the Rock House to hike and explore our local history.
Saturday April 4
9:00 AM *TRAIL TROLLS PROJECT DAY – We will meet at Cantwell Cliffs parking area. Bring a sack lunch and a drink and dress for the weather. For more information about the Trail Trolls contact the naturalist office at

Friday April 10
2:00 PM FLY TYING – To celebrate the annual release of trout in Rose Lake. Take a break from fishing and Join the naturalist at the camp amphitheater to learn more about this fun and growing pastime. We will have a short talk and demonstration on fly-fishing equipment and techniques for the beginner.
Saturday April 11
8:00 AM - *CB INTRODUCTION to HOCKING VALLEY BIRDS
Hocking Hills Expedition Trail (Located behind the state park office) – Do you enjoy bird watching? 88 million Americans do. Want to be a better birder or perfect your skills? Then this is the program for you. Based on many college level introduction to Ornithology courses this is a great way to be a better birder without all the pressure and cost. Join the naturalist and members of the Hocking Valley Birding Trail to explore “hands on” the many fascinating aspects of our avian friends. Everything from bird sight & sound identification, bird behavior and even building a better feeding station is covered. This program is great for the long time birder, the beginner or just the family that loves to hike together.
*CB - Attend any 3 birding programs (marked with a *CB) this spring/summer and receive a certified birder patch (While supplies last).
2:00 PM *CB HOCKING’S BIRDS OF PREY- Join the naturalist at the Naturalist Cabin for a closer look at Ohio’s hawks, owls, eagles and vultures. Naturalist Cabin will remain “OPEN” to explore and ask questions.
Friday April 17
8:00 PM *HISTORIC LANTERN TOUR of ASH CAVE- The mystery of Ash Cave is special as far back as the last Ice Age and beyond. Join the naturalist in the parking lot area to explore Ash Cave by lantern light and learn this special history first hand. We supply the lights…you supply the imagination. (Please no pets at the lantern tour)
Saturday April 18
10:00 AM *THE WONDERS of OLD MAN’S CAVE - Meet the naturalist at the Naturalist Cabin for a short hike and discover some facts about the history of the area and the rock formations that are found throughout the park.
