Hocking Valley Birding Trail presents;SCHOOL DAYS Celebrates International Migratory Bird Dayat Lake Hope State ParkDo you have a 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th grader? Then were looking for you for an entire day dedicated to birds and the environment. Public, private and home school groups are all welcome…and best of all its free! 8:00 AM - Birds of Clear Creek Metropark
Join the staff and volunteers to look for birds along the rugged trails of Clear Creek." Birders can visit http://www.metroparks.net/ for directions to the park etc. or call 740-969-8210 for more information about the hike.

9 AM – Spring Migration Bird Walk at Lake Hope State Park – Join the naturalist on a premier hike through the Lake Hope region. Discover birds from the ridgetops to the lakeshore. For more information call (740) 596-3030.

9 AM - Birding Canoe Float Down the Hocking River - Join the Hocking Hills Canoe Livery and the Clearcreek metropark naturalist for a float down the Hocking River. To make reservations (special birding trail price of $20) and more information call (740) 385-0523. Canoe float is weather-dependant and requires a minimum number of participants…so please call ahead.


1:00 PM - Saturday Birders Reception at Old Man’s Cave Visitor Center Join with members of the Hocking Valley Birding Trail to explore, plan future birding outings and get tips for your next birding excursion. Many of the local birding location hosts will be on hand to answer any questions and offer help with your next outing.
9 PM - Owl Prowl - Hocking Hills State Park, Conkle’s Hollow
Meet the naturalist in the Conkle’s Hollow parking area to discover, look at and listen for these nocturnal avian hunters. For more information call (740) 385-8003.

8 AM – Warblers & Wildflowers at Wahkeena Nature Preserve –
Meet with preserve manager Tom Shisler to discover the unique diversity of Wahkeena. From the minute you get out of the car, this birding hotspot will not disappoint and the colorful show of wildflowers will add to the adventure. 8:00 AM Bird Hike on the HockHocking Adena Bikeway
Join with Wayne National Forest biologist, Lynda Andrews, in viewing birds along the Hocking River corridor. The hike will begin at the Glen Ebon (Co. Rd. 4) intersection and proceed north toward Nelsonville. Hiking along the river through cliff faces, mature forest and agricultural fields offers the possibility of viewing a variety of birds. County Road 4 is located by turning west off of U.S. Hwy 33 at Duplers Home Sales (between Nelsonville and The Plains). Parking is available after crossing the bridge.
